Pike Leads UC Women to Win in Tournament
November 26, 2005

The University of Charleston’s women’s basketball team beat host Indiana (Pa.) 63-52 Friday at the IUP Shoot For the Cure Classic.

Rachel Pike led the way for the Golden Eagles with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Emily Jones pitched in with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Mame Brumbaugh and Katie Glaus scored 12 points apiece for IUP. UC’s Lisa Lee scored 10 points and pulled down four rebounds in a tough shooting night for both squads.

UC coach Sherry Winn said she’ll take them any way she can get them.

"It wasn’t a great shooting night. We played great defense, though," Winn said. "We haven’t hit our stride yet."

The Golden Eagles (2-0) will play California (Pa.) at 5 p.m. today.
