Courtney Thomas led the University of Charleston to a 71-63 road victory over Clarion University in women’s basketball Tuesday.

Thomas, who went 6-for-12 for 17 points, also had four assists and a block.

Erica McElroy, Laura Kinsley, Lisa Lee and Emily Jones scored 10, 11, 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Golden Eagles (1-0), who are ranked No. 3 in the nation in Division II. Lee also had three blocks and two assists Jones, who went 4-for-5, scored her 11 points in 14 minutes.

For Clarion (0-1), Katrina Greer and April Gratton scored 14 points each.
