Head Coach, Todd Diuguid, a native of Monticello, N.Y., has over 20 years of soccer experience as a player, referee and coach. Early in his playing career, Diuguid was a member of Wallkill United which became the Queens, N.Y. Divisional Champions. Diuguid was also selected to the New York State Cosmopolitan Select Team. In high school, Diuguid continued his success as a member of the Monticello High School soccer team, being named to various Sullivan County All-Star Teams. Diuguid also served as the Student Council President and was involved in a variety of charitable organizations.

Following graduation, Diuguid left the state of New York to play soccer at Marshall University, located in Huntington, W.V. Diuguid lettered all four years at Marshall and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

After a few years of refereeing at the high school and college level, Diuguid was offered his first coaching job with South Charleston H.S., located in South Charleston, W.V., as an assistant coach in 1995. In 1996, Diuguid was named the Head Girl’s Soccer Coach at Hurricane H.S., located in the Kanawha Valley of West Virginia. While at Hurricane, Diuguid’s team was noted as one of the top programs in the state.

After three years at Hurricane High, Diuguid was hired as the Head Boy’s Soccer Coach at neighboring Nitro High School. Nitro teams won back-to-back Sectional Championships and were again noted as one of the top boy’s programs in the state. Diuguid received Regional Coach-of-the-Year honors in 1999 and 2000 and was appointed the Regional Representative for West Virginia in 2000.

Diuguid has also lead nine different West Virginia club teams to West Virginia State Championships and representation at the US Youth Soccer National Championships. Four years with the boys and five with the girls. To date, Diuguid has recorded the most wins at Nationals for West Virginia. In 2006, Diuguid’s U13 girls became the first girl’s team in state history to advance to the regional semi-finals defeating all preliminary challengers and ultimately losing to the eventual regional champion.

Diuguid’s success at the high school and club level launched him into collegiate coaching in 2001. Diuguid was named the Head Women’s Soccer Coach at the University of Charleston. During Diuguid’s tenure, the program continues to grow and develop. In 2006, the teams second place finish in conference, WVIAC, is the best finish in school history.

As he enters his seventh season at UC, Diuguid is looking forward to what lies ahead. UC and the Women’s Soccer Program are on the move.

Coach Elkins, a 2007 graduate of the University of Charleston and a West Virginia native, began her soccer career at a young age. Elkins played on various teams in her community and was a three sport athlete. Elkins excelled in soccer, basketball and softball. As a Captain and starter for each sport, Elkins lead for basketball team to the State Championships as the starting point guard. As a senior soccer player, Elkins was selected to play in the prestigious North/South All-Star game. Elkins also received numerous accolades as a soccer player. An all-conference and all-region selection in all four years, Elkins set her sights on playing at the collegiate level.

Elkins attended the University of Charleston lettering all four years and received all-conference recognition in 2005. Elkins earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education/health with a focus in special education. Elkins was also named the team captain by her teammates in her senior season. Elkins is currently employed by Kanawha County Schools and continues to play in adult leagues. A valuable asset to the program, Elkins knowledge, leadership and dedication will continue move the program forward.
