UC leads NCAA D-II in digs
The University of Charleston women’s volleyball team is leading the nation in digs per game, according to this week’s statistics released by the NCAA. The Golden Eagles hope to share this great news by benefiting to a great cause.
The University of Charleston women’s volleyball team has chosen to join in the fight against breast cancer with their "Dig for the Cure" program to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Golden Eagles selected its "Dig for the Cure" match for tonight, Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, assistant athletic director and head volleyball coach Bren Stevens announced today. The NCAA Division II match between UC and West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Fairmont State University will take place at Eddie King Gym on the campus of the University of Charleston and begin at 7 p.m.
“It is an honor to participate in this great cause,” said Stevens. “Our hope is that donations and awareness will be raised and that people will enjoy a great evening of volleyball. We are planning on making this an annual event.”
Donations can be given at the door or donors may choose to donate by pledging towards the number of digs recorded. The public is invited to come out and support this great cause while enjoying great NCAA volleyball action. There will be many prizes and giveaways at the games.
