UC Faces Grand Valley in NCAA Volleyball Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS-The NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Committee announced the field of 63 teams for the 2005 NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Championship. The committee selected eight teams from each of the following regions to participate in the championship: Atlantic, Great Lakes, Northeast, Pacific, South, South Central and Southwest. The committee selected seven teams from the North Central region, adhering to selection criteria requiring that a team have a won-lost record of .500 or above against Division II teams to be considered for an at-large selection.

Seven eight-team regionals and one seven-team regional will be played at on-campus sites. Regional competition will be single-elimination, best three-of-five game matches and will not include a third-place match. The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the finals, December 1-3, on the campus of one of the final eight institutions. Competition at the final site will be single-elimination, best three-of-five game matches.

West Virginia Conference Tournament champion Charleston will head to Allendale, Michigan to compete in the Great Lakes Region Tournament.  The Golden Eagles will face host school Grand Valley State in a 7:30 start on Thursday.

Thursday, November 17
Match 1: #3 SIUE (27-5) vs. #6 Ferris State (22-9), 12:00 p.m.
Match 2: #2 Rockhurst (27-6) vs. #7 Hillsdale (19-11), 2:30 p.m.
Match 3: #4 Northwood (22-9) vs. #5 Ashland (23-9), 5:00 p.m.
Match 4: #1 Grand Valley State (26-6) vs. #8 Charleston (26-9), 7:30 p.m.

Friday, November 18
Winner of Match 1 vs. Winner of Match 2, 5:00 p.m.
Winner of Match 3 vs. Winner of Match 4, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, November 19
Great Lakes Regional Championship Match, 7:00 p.m.
