The University of Charleston's Rebecca LaBrake was named the WVIAC Volleyball Player of the Week for October 3-9 after leading the Golden Eagles past Bluefield State and Wheeling Jesuit. The 5-11 sophomore outside hitter from Clifton, Va. compiled 32 kills and a .482 hitting percentage in the victories.
She contributed a double-double of 17 kills and 10 digs as UC took over first place in the league standings on Saturday with a victory over Wheeling Jesuit. LaBrake also had a match-high five aces. The defeat was WJU's first regular season league setback since 2001.
This is the second time this season LaBrake has earned the WVIAC Player of the Week award. She previously grabbed the award for the week of August 29-September 4 as the Golden Eagles swept through the Carson-Newman Invitational (4-0).
