UC expected to contend for WVIAC Women's Cross Country title
August 21, 2006

Another tight three-way battle for WVIAC women's cross country supremacy is predicted by conference coaches again in 2006. West Virginia Wesleyan, who narrowly got past Alderson-Broaddus and Charleston last season, is the narrow favorite to capture their 11th WVIAC title in a dozen years by the coaches' voting.

The Bobcats earned five first place votes and finished the balloting with 109 points. Charleston and Alderson-Broaddus grabbed three first place votes each and tied with 107 poll points. Wheeling Jesuit is the pick for fourth, while Concord
completes the top five.

Ohio Valley, Davis & Elkins, and Glenville State hold down the sixth through eighth spots. Fairmont State, West Liberty State, and Bluefield
State round out the complete poll.

WVIAC newcomers Seton Hill and Pitt Johnstown are not eligible for the team championship. However, both schools will participate in the conference meet on October 21 at Pipestem State Park near Athens, WV
. Seton Hill and Pitt Johnstown runners will be able to compete for all individual honors and awards.
