UC Softball Selected No. 8 in WVIAC Preseason Poll
February 22, 2005

First-year coach Annette Olenchick's squad was chosen No. 8 in the 2006 WVIAC Preseason Coaches Poll released February 19.

Olenchick inherited a program loaded with underclassmen that went 19-21 overall and 10-13 in conference play during the 2004-05 season. The Golden Eagles return 13-of-14 letterwinners, including 2005 All-WVIAC Second Team selections Michelle Sabelhaus (1B, So., Pickerington, OH) and Krystal Robertson (2B, Sr., Elkview, WV).  As a freshman Sabelhaus batted .449 and drove in 21 runs for UC.  Krystal Robertson batted .374, scored 35 runs, and stole 20 bases last season.

With a solid foundation and the addition of heralded pitcher Andrea Lewis, former Sissonville High School standout and Division I Gardner-Webb transfer,  the Golden Eagles appear poised to rapidly improve in the conference standings.

West Virginia Wesleyn was tabbed to repeat as WVIAC champions.
