
UC Splits with Rio Grande

Michelle Sabelhaus went 3-for-3 with a solo homer to help the University of Charleston to an opening-game 3-2 victory against Rio Grande on Monday. Rio Grande edged the Golden Eagles 2-1 in the nightcap.
Andrea Lewis struck out nine for UC in the first game. For Rio Grande, Miranda Laws, a former Sherman High School standout, pounded out a pair of hits, including a double. In the second game, Laws held the Golden Eagles to a run on four hits. For UC (26-19), Lewis fanned a dozen and Krystal Robertson went 2-for-3.
