Huntington's Lowry Commits to UC

HUNTINGTON Erin Lowry built a reputation as a clutch power hitter for the Huntington High Highlanders softball team. Now, she's taking that reputation on to a collegiate career at the University of Charleston.
Lowry, a first baseman and second in her class academically entering her senior year, signed a letter of intent on Thursday at a ceremony after school to attend UC and play softball. She hit five home runs this year to up her career total to 13 and was a flawless defender according to HHS head coach Willie Wilson. [The Full Story]
UC Places Two on All-WVIAC Softball First Team The University of Charleston was well represented when the All-WVIAC softball teams were announced on Wednesday. The conference’s top hitter, first baseman Michelle Sabelhaus (Soph., Pickerington, OH) had the top batting average of .465 while adding a home run, 23 RBI and 30 runs scored. The conference’s top strikeout artist, UC’s Andrea Lewis (Jr., Sissonville, WV) had a 21-13 pitching record and 2.17 ERA. Lewis dominated in her first year in the WVIAC, striking out 259 batters in 222.0 innings – 82 more than anyone else in the league. UC second baseman Krystal Robertson (Sr., Pinch, WV) was a second team pick. She had a .371 batting average stole 10 bases and scored 26 runs.
