Despite a valiant second-half comeback effort, the University of Charleston dropped a 3-2 decision to host Davis & Elkins College in a West Virginia Conference men's soccer contest on Tuesday night.

After slipping to a 2-0 first half deficit, Adam Prestifilippo and Alex Ashley scored goals for the Golden Eagles. Gary Taylor and Anthony Gray were credited with assists on the UC goals.

But the Senators added a second half goal to nip UC. Jose Cantillo had all three goals for D&E.

The Golden Eagles fall to 1-4-1 overall, 0-1-1 in the WVIAC. Davis & Elkins leads the conference at 1-0, with a 3-3 mark overall.

UC head coach Marty Martinez will take his squad to Wingate on Friday Sept. 15 for a 7 p.m. showdown and travel to Lenoir Rhyne on Sunday, Sept. 17 for a 3 p.m. match before returning home to Triana Field Wednesday Sept. 20 for a home WVIAC game against Ohio Valley.
