(PRINCETON, W.VA)-Shepherd University sophomore Casey Moser has been selected as the 2006 WVIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year by a ballot of league coaches.  West Liberty State's Sam DeSimone received the Freshman of the Year award, while Salem International's Florin Marton was honored by his peers as the WVIAC Coach of the Year.

Moser, a Parkersburg native, led the Rams to an unbeaten record in league regular season play and a #10 regional ranking.  The former Williamstown HS star completed the regular season with an 8-0 WVIAC record at #1 singles.

DeSimone completed his first collegiate regular season with an 8-0 conference record at #3 singles.  The Pittsburgh native (Central Catholic HS) played a large role in helping the Hilltoppers to an 8-1 league mark and a #2 seed in this week's league tournament.

Marton guided Salem International to a third place league finish as the Tigers notched a 7-2 WVIAC record.  The native of Timisoara, Romania was the 2004 WVIAC Men's Soccer Coach of the Year.  The two-sport coach was a goalkeeper for the Romanian national soccer team prior to his entry into coaching.

Four members of the All-WVIAC team were repeat selections from the 2005 squad.  Charleston's Michael Bumgarner, Salem International's Kim Kanginnadhi, Fairmont State's David Marquette, and West Liberty State's Justin Thomas are the duplicate honorees.

Moser and David Seifarth represent regular season champion Shepherd on the all-conference team.  DeSimone, Sladjan Radic (Salem International), Dan Riske (West Liberty State), and Matthew Stonestreet (Concord) round out the squad.

Five members of the squad hail from the Mountain State.  Bumgarner (Logan), Marquette (Martinsburg), Moser (Parkersburg), Stonestreet (Bluefield), and Thomas (Chester) make up the West Virginia contingent.

The WVIAC Men's Tennis Tournament continues in Charleston with quarterfinal and semifinal action on Friday.  The championship match, which carries an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, will be contested on Saturday morning.
