UC Golfers Trail by Four in Region

Entering today’s final round, the University of Charleston trails leader Indiana University of Pennsylvania by four strokes at the NCAA Division II East Region Golf Tournament in Jackson, N.J.

With a two-day total of 610, IUP holds a one-stroke lead over second-place Clarion.

West Liberty’s Matt Hicks carded the day’s low round with a three-under 69 and owns a three-shot advantage over second-place Graham Hill of IUP. Hicks is two-under for the tournament and is the lone player in the field below par. Hill shot a 71 on Tuesday and is at one-over par 145.

Among West Virginia Conference golfers, Shepherd’s David Bradshaw, Charleston’s Brandon Reece and Fairmont State’s Jeff Messenger are tied for fourth in the individual medalist race with 150 scores. The top team and top individual earn a trip to the NCAA Division II National Golf Tournament later this month.
