GLENVILLE STATE 79, BARTON 52
March 10, 2006

(CHARLESTON, W.VA)-Rachel Redick poured in 22 of her game-high 26 points in the opening half as second seed Glenville State (29-2) rolled past Barton (23-8) 79-52.  6'6" Pioneer center Denae Dobbins notched a triple-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 blocks.

Dobbins' defense keyed a GSC defense that limited Barton to 27.1 percent shooting from the field.  The Pioneers also held a 54-45 rebounding edge as they equaled a school record with their 29th victory.

Liz Bowers came off the Glenville bench to add 16 points, while Casey Taylor also scored in double figures with 10.  GSC point guard Lauren Strong grabbed ten rebounds and dished out five assists.

Barton, who trailed 42-26 at the break, was led by Anjessa Evans' 12 points.  Veronica Johnson had 11 points and Jo Denevan tallied 10.  Star senior Keauna Vinson, a first team all-region pick, was limited to five points on 2-of-10 shooting.

"I'm pleased with how we played," said victorious head coach Steve Harold.  "We played hard and got them on the boards, which is one of their strengths.  I'm a little concerned about the turnovers and free throw shootingk, but we did what we have to do in March and advance."

"We opened the game in a 3-2 zone," stated Barton mentor Wendee Saintsing.  "They made the adjustments to get easy shots.  #22 (Redick) hit everything that she put up.  #44 (Dobbins) was intimidating inside on our drives.  We just didn't execute our game plan."

Glenville State, ranked sixth nationally, advances to meet Anderson in Saturday's 8:00 p.m. semifinal.  The Pioneers slipped past Anderson 72-71 in the 2004 regional semifinals at California, PA in the only meeting between the two schools.
