Hunter wins WVIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor
University of Charleston quarterback DeRante Hunter was named the WVIAC Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in a UC victory over Fairmont State this weekend.
Hunter joins teammates Chris Rotella (WVIAC Defensive Player of the Week 8/25), Mike Williams (WVIAC, CollegeSportsReport and D2Football.com Defensive Player of the Week 9/22), T.L. Asbury (WVIAC Defensive Player of the Week 9/29) and Xavier Drakeford (WVIAC Special Teams Player of the Week 8/25) as Golden Eagles that have claimed weekly individual awards.

WVIAC Offensive Players of the Week: DeRante Hunter, Charleston, QB, Fr., 5-9, 175, Sarasota, FL Hunter paced Charleston's 35-9 road win at Fairmont State with an efficient rushing and passing effort...The redshirt freshman rushed 14 times for 160 yards...He also added an 8-for-10 passing afternoon for 141 yards and a pair of scores as the Golden Eagles moved into a tie atop the league standings.
Jerry Seymour, Glenville State, RB, Jr., 5-7, 195, Miramar, FL: Seymour rushed 30 times for 196 yards and two touchdowns as Glenville State handed West Liberty State their first league defeat...The Central Michigan transfer scored on rushes of 1 and 2 yards...He also went over the 1,000 yard mark on the season with 1,034 rush yards in seven contests.
WVIAC Defensive Player of the Week: Raphael Lee, West Virginia State, DB, Soph., 5-10, 200, Union, NJ: Lee contributed eight tackles and two interceptions as West Virginia State continued their strongest start in over a quarter-century with a 21-13 win over Seton Hill...Lee's first interception, a late third quarter pick, helped set up a touchdown that gave WVSU a 21-7 lead...His second theft of the afternoon ended Seton Hill's final threat in the contest.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Robert Harvey, Glenville State, DB, Fr., 5-11, 185, Tampa, FL: Harvey returned a intercepted two-point conversion pass 100-plus yards for a defensive score to help clinch GSC's key 44-33 league win against West Liberty State...Harvey's return allowed the Pioneers to retain a two-score advantage in the final minutes of the contest.
