Findlay stifles UC offense in 20-0 win

Findlay (Ohio) struck for two quick first-quarter touchdowns and the Oilers (1-0) went on to shut down the University of Charleston 20-0 Saturday afternoon in Findlay, Ohio.

The Golden Eagles (1-1) committed five turnovers, including three interceptions, and managed only 154 yards of total offense.

UC collected just nine first downs and totaled 57 yards on the ground and 97 passing.

UC quarterback DeRante Hunter completed 9-of-23 passes for 75 yards and three interceptions and rushed 17 times for 30 yards. Josh Culbertson added 32 yards on 11 carries.

T.L. Asbury led the UC defense with three tackles for loss and helped keep Findlay out of the end zone over the game’s final 54 minutes.

UF got a 15-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Lanzara to Adam Snyder and a four-yard Joel McDaniel scoring plunge to lead 14-0 less than six minutes into the game.

Findlay’s McDaniel led all the Oiler offense with 114 rushing yards.
