PHILADELPHIA The University of Charleston women’s crew team finished second in the Women’s Varsity Heavyweight Four event today with a time of 8:08.68 in their heat to advance to the semi-finals of the Dad Vail Regatta.
UC competed in a heat against LaSalle, Lowell, Susquehanna, Robert Morris and first place Ohio State – who also advances to the semi-finals.
The Dad Vail Regatta rowing event is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States, with over 100 colleges and universities from the U.S. and Canada competing. It takes place on the Schuylkill River’s 2,000 meter race course in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park.
UC, ranked No. 18 among 51 teams in their event, will continue at 9:50 am on Saturday in the second of three semi-finals against Lafayette, Northwestern State, Jacksonville, Duquesne and Rutgers-Camden. The top two qualifying teams will advance to the finals at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday.
