    Program Overview

    Medical assistants are trained healthcare professionals who work alongside physicians and physician assistants in a variety of healthcare settings. This program provides the foundation and experience needed for students to perform both administrative and clinical duties. Classroom and clinical/laboratory experiences include the following areas: patient care; assessment; routine laboratory procedures, electrocardiography; medical billing and coding; insurance reimbursement; handling of financial records; medical correspondences; office scheduling of practitioners and patients, and other administrative duties.


    Program Outcomes

    Students will be able to take the national certification examination to become a Certified Medical Assistant upon completion of the program.

    Graduates of this program will be prepared to work in hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics, hospitals and ambulatory care facilities.

    According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook Employment of medical assistants is projected to grow 29 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations.
