The Management Major is designed to prepare students for entry-level management positions in business, government, public service, and technical environments. It is also a good choice for experienced managers or mid-career professionals wishing to advance their career.
The Management Major provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, processes and practices involved in the management of people and organizations. Areas of emphasis include human resource management, small business management, leadership, and team development.
The program is designed to provide a well-rounded foundation in management principles with the flexibility to pursue individual interests.
The program integrates professional preparation certifications and experiences throughout the core and major courses.
Professional certification option available for Microsoft Office and Google Analytics, as well as internships within the major.
Students can minor in complimentary areas of business or fields such as communication or political science.
Employment of management occupations is projected to grow 8% through 2026. The growth is expected to be driven by the formation of new organizations and expansion of existing ones, which should require more workers to manage these operations (Bureau of Labor Statistics).
Career opportunities include management analyst, business consultant, personnel manager, operations manager, business development manager, human resource manager, retail manager, training and development manager.
