The primary mission/purpose of the Radiologic Science Program is to provide challenging academic and clinical education for the development of the student as a compassionate, responsible, and multicompetent radiography professional.

The faculty is committed to:

  1. Educating students, in a liberal learning environment, for a life of productive work as a practicing radiographer
  2. Guiding students on their journey to becoming life-long learners by modeling continued education
  3. Demonstrating the importance of service to the greater Charleston community

Program Outcomes

To measure Radiologic Program effectiveness, the graduate will:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of radiologic science methodologies and competence as an entry-level radiographer
  • Help sustain the community's need for registered radiographers
  • Demonstrate abilities in communication, critical thinking, and problem solving in professional practice
  • Apply teamwork principles as a member of the health care community while providing patient care
  • Maintain the legal and ethical parameters of the radiologic profession
  • Demonstrate evidence of accepting responsibility for continued professional growth, education, and development
  • Provide leadership to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the Radiologic science practice
Quantitative Program Benchmarks for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology

Quantitative outcomes are as follows:

  • Graduates will earn degrees within 5 years or less from date of matriculation (currently 100%)
  • Five year average credentialing examination (ARRT) 1st time pass rate of 75% or higher (average last four years 98%)
  • Five year average job placement rate of 75% or higher within six months of graduation (currently 100%)
  • Program completion rate of 60% or higher (current five year average 87%)
  • Graduates will score in the usually or always category in clinical performance and competence 85% of the time or higher (current score 100%)
  • Graduates will score in the usually or always category in problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills 85% of the time or higher (current score 100%)
  • Employer and graduate surveys will indicate 85% or higher satisfaction (current rating 100%)
