United Way Day of Caring
On September 16, 2009, the University of Charleston Radiologic Science program proudly volunteered for the third consecutive year. This year forty-eight students and faculty from the program spent the afternoon lending a helping hand to West Virginia Health Right, West Virginia Animal Shelter, Boy Scouts of America, and Piedmont Elementary school. |
UC Radiologic Science Helps the CAMC Teddy Bear Fair
The Teddy Bear Fair gives children an inside look at the hospital in a child-friendly atmosphere with a chance for them to see and touch some of the medical equipment. Children can bring their teddy bears to get a band-aid or have an x-ray of them with the hope this will make them feel more comfortable when they become a patient themselves. Role-playing is important for children to learn more about what happens when they go to their doctor or hospital. On October 3, 2009, the junior class volunteered their time to educate hundreds of children about Medical Imaging. Besides the teddy bear x-rays, children seemed to enjoy riding the Computed Tomography scanner the most.
