Alumni and Students |
Alumni and Students UC Interior Design graduates become valuable alumni to the program as they develop professional career tracks. They exemplify the UC Mission of Productive Work, Enlightened Living, and Community Involvement. Graduates' real-world preparation is evident from job placement statistics and employer evaluations. In developing professionalism, students are involved in campus organizations, in the American Society of Interior Designers student chapter, as well as in team project presentations for the Division of Business. Students and alumni are featured in the media from National Public Radio and America's Extreme Makeover television series to various trade magazines for design work that addresses health, safety, and welfare needs of the public. Internship and Career Preparation Our interior design faculty go the extra mile for the students to expand their learning. They assist each qualified student with internship placement. Andrea Radford, a current Interior Design Student, states, "I would like to thank you so much for helping me find my internship. It was such a wonderful experience and I met several great people during my stay in Birmingham. I am very excited for our senior year... Thank you so much! I really appreciate having such a caring person leading the interior design program." The interior design program at UC prepares students for the real world. Terry Floyd, a recent UC grad, stated, "If anyone is planning to attend graduate school for architecture, tell them to be prepared and pay attention. The three and a half years I spent at UC has more than prepared me for the challenge. Thanks for everything!" Terry is a graduate student at the University of North Carolina — Charlotte School of Architecture. She was one of only fifteen students selected out of 1,200 applicants. |
