Mission Statement

The Education Program goal is to assist pre-service teachers in their pursuit of the following role:

          Teacher as a committed educator, life-long learner, and community servant.

Faculty members are charged to promote within each student the individual responsibility for acquiring the knowledge and skills essential for entry into the education profession. They are committed to developing within each student a teaching style capable of coping with a rapidly changing world, and to foster those critical thinking skills that will enable each student to meet and take advantage of the diverse challenges they will encounter in a professional career.

To accomplish these challenges, faculty and students must commit themselves to ongoing processes of self-evaluation, reflection, and change, and they must attain technological and electronic proficiency and routinely practice and maintain those skills.
