The Sport Administration major is housed in the Department of Business. The Sport Administration major will consist of two different tracks: management and sports information. Students will be required to take a core of business classes, in addition to the course work that they will complete in their respective track that they select.
The sport management industry has become an increasingly attractive field for young professionals, therefore a degree in Sport Administration will provide a significant advantage for students that wish to work in this venue. Most Sport Administration programs are filled with physical education and recreation courses, the curriculum for this program is grounded in business.

In addition, students will complete another 9 hours of course work in a specific track of courses as part of their program requirements for graduation.
All students will participate in an internship course that will provide them with experiences in lesisure/recreational settings, college and university athletic departments, the sporting goods industry, entrepreneurial sport settings, as well as teaching and coaching opportunities.
The 2007-2008 academic year will be a new beginning for the Sport Administration major. The curriculum has undergone extensive modification to match the needs of the ever changing sport industry environment. We believe that by our "unique" design, our students will have many wonderful job opportunities in the future.
The Sport Administration program is a part of the Department of Business at the University of Charleston. Our students will take a great majority of their classes from the faculty of the Department of Business. The faculty members of the Department of Business have an amazing amount of teaching experience, as well as business/entrepreneurial experiences. Through the Sport Administration program students will be encouraged to develop an ongoing commitment to professional and scholarly development and will learn to deal effectively with value implications found both in personal and professional experiences.
