• Financial Planning Major


    Program Overview

    This major will prepare graduates for positions within the financial services industry, business administration and leadership, as well as to become a trusted financial advisor.  Students will acquire a highly marketable skill set involving theory-based financial knowledge, strong analytical tools and the ability to calculate and to apply critical finance-related reasoning from the strategic perspective.

    Program Highlights

    This program is a registered program with the CFP® (Certified Financial Planner) Board and is quickly gaining recognition in the greater Charleston area.

    Our curriculum is approved by the CFP Board of Standards.

    The program prepares students to sit for the CFP certification examination.

    Program is geared for careers in financial planning and advising, as well as financial analysts, financial managers, consultants, and a variety of jobs in the banking industry.

    Program Outcomes

    Qualified financial planning jobs are expected to increase with the number of investors seeking professional advice also expected to increase in the next decade.

    Career potential includes registered investment advisers, accounting and tax registered investment advisors, banking, credit unions, trust companies, discount brokerage companies, wirehouse brokerages, life & disability insurance companies, property and casualty insurance companies, independent broker/dealers, government, academia/research.

    Note: Students receive a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Financial Planning
