President's Message

Welcome to the University of Charleston! I am delighted that you are interested in UC and want you to know that we are ready, willing, and able to help you achieve your educational goals through 21st century techniques and resources.

UC has moved from a traditional lecture teacher-centered approach to an individualized student learning-centered one, and the results have been great. As a student, you move through your program at your own pace, you exercise initiative, you develop planning and organizational skills, and you demonstrate what you have learned. Technology is a key aid, and your work, from science experiments to research papers, goes into your own personal electronic portfolio that you will keep when you graduate to show the world what you have achieved.
