The University of Charleston, located in the state capital of Charleston, West Virginia, invites applications and nominations for the position of founding Program Director for its emerging Physician Assistant Program. The position provides an exciting and challenging opportunity to make a positive difference in the delivery of quality health care to the residents of West Virginia, a state with many medically underserved regions.

The University is looking for an experienced and visionary academic leader to help shape the structure and direction of the new program. The Program Director will have oversight of academic, financial, faculty, student, accreditation, and administrative areas. Current plans are to admit well-qualified students as undergraduates who will be able to move seamlessly into the professional curriculum leading to a master’s degree.

Applicants should present the following qualifications: licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in West Virginia; significant experience in academic program administration; excellence in classroom/clinical teaching; ability to establish cooperative/collaborative programming; exceptional communication skills; experience with budget development and management; knowledge of the ARC-PA accreditation process; strong support for faculty development; and a demonstrated commitment to students.
