We look forward to
working with you and helping you reach your educational and personal goals. Because of the special arrangement between Mountain
State University and the University of Charleston, you’ve been automatically
accepted for admission to UC. Your
acceptance is conditional and based on the assumption you are academically and
financially in good standing. The staff in the Student Success Center at MSU
will verify your satisfactory academic progress and inform us of any student
who is unable to progress. Students who
are not in good standing (below a 2.0 GPA or not making satisfactory academic
progress) by the end of the 2012 fall semester will be notified by the Student
Success Center.
We hope to make your transition
to the University of Charleston as seamless as possible. To register for the spring 2013 courses, you will
follow the same procedure as you have used in previous semesters at MSU. Please plan to utilize
the Cougar Web Portal to register electronically. The Portal will be available until December
31st. After that date, other
arrangements will be made for students to complete the registration
process. Your financial aid and billing
statements will also be processed in the same fashion as they were for the fall
2012 semester.

International Students who wish to continue as a UC student
We are working diligently with our state legislatures to achieve approval from the government office to add the Beckley and Martinsburg sites to the University of Charleston. Because of the existing SEVIS regulations, international students will not be permitted to register for spring classes at the two sites for which we do not yet have approval. Therefore, the best option for the international students is to begin the process of enrolling at the Charleston campus this spring. Please work with Julie Rogers, our Assistant Director of International Enrollment, to begin the transfer process. Her email contact information is julierogers@ucwv.edu , and direct phone number 304-357-4758. Once the Government approves the Beckley and Martinsburg sites, international students will be permitted to attend classes at those sites and we will do all we can to expedite the process.
The University of Charleston has requested approval from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to offer our nationally recognized academic offerings in Beckley and Martinsburg, W.Va., as well as online. We are awaiting a decision on our request, which we expect to receive in early December of 2012. We can also keep you up to date on the latest news as we receive it from the HLC, including which academic offerings we may provide at each UC location and online, by providing us with your contact information.
Classes will begin on January 14, 2013.
We trust the information above answers your initial questions. Please be assured that we are working to make
your transition as easy and smooth as possible.
We are excited to have you join the UC Golden Eagles!
