WV High School Students Receive UC Presidential Scholarship
Four high school seniors have been selected to receive the University of Charleston’s Presidential Scholarship – worth $120,000, and covering full tuition.
“The Presidential Scholarship truly recognizes high achievers,” explained Joan Clark, Executive Vice President of Admissions and Marketing for UC. “They have to have outstanding grades, score well on standardized tests, participate in our Scholarship Day events, and interview with President Roth. The winners of this scholarship should be very proud – it is quite an achievement.”
To receive the scholarship, students must have a high school GPA of 4.0 or higher, score a 25 on the ACT or 1150 on the SAT, plan on living on campus while at UC, and participate in an interview with UC President Dr. Martin Roth while attending one of the University’s Scholarship Days events.
The students who will receive the Presidential Scholarship are:
- Hunter Adkins (Danville, WV) - Scott High School
- Bryer McPherson (Hurricane, WV) – Hurricane High School
- Emily Taylor (Charleston, WV) – Sissonville High School
- Sidra Tahir – (Annapolis Maryland) Annapolis Senior High School
“We are proud to offer these outstanding students the opportunity to pursue their dreams,” stated Roth. “We congratulate them on their achievements so far, and know that they will accomplish great things. We are looking forward to welcoming them to the Golden Eagle family.”
The students were surprised with a presentation at their high schools from Dr. Roth and other UC staff.
