University of Charleston to Showcase School’s Diversity with Carnival Celebration
CHARLESTON, WV – The University of Charleston’s Global Student Organization will present its annual WorldFest event March 7, beginning at 5:00 p.m. This year’s theme is Carnival, and the public is invited into a joyful, colorful and fun filled celebration of Carnival around the world.
“WorldFest 2019 is about global carnival street food, fashion, music, dancing and more,” explained Violetta Petrosyan, UC Director of International Students. “This event provides an opportunity to showcase the University of Charleston’s diversity with students from 41 different countries sharing their traditions and cultures with students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community.”
This year’s event is designed to highlight both the similarities and differences in world carnival culture. There will be booths offering samples of traditional carnival street foods, as well as a fashion show presenting carnival and traditional attire from UC students’ home countries. Attendees are invited to dress up, wear masks and be ready to enjoy food, games and entertainment.
Tickets are $10.00 and can be paid for at the door, but those interested in attending should RSVP to Violetta Petrosyan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
