University of Charleston School of Pharmacy Acts as Collection Site for National Drug Take-Back Day
Charleston, WV – On Saturday, October 28, 2017 University of Charleston School of Pharmacy’s PharmUC Clinic (on the first floor of the School of Pharmacy building) will be a collection site for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event will run from 10:00am-2:00pm and is open to the public.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing expired and unused prescription drugs. The event also serves to educate the general public about the potential for prescription drug misuse and medication safety.
“The Drug Take-Back event is important to the community for so many reasons,” explained UCSOP Assistant Professor, Dr. Lindsay Acree. “It will allow those in the community to safely dispose of unused, expired, and potentially addictive medications. Often, teens that misuse prescription medications obtain them from a friend, relative, or from the medicine cabinet. Getting unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications out of the home can protect teens and others from misuse and harm.”
