University of Charleston PreProfessional Opportunities

Students interested in educational and career opportunities in the healthcare profession can take part in several programs this spring at the University of Charleston:

UC Destination. Pharmacy Week – April 16-21

College students interested in pharmacy school can take part in activities that combine live and virtual events, including a courtesy transcript evaluation, what to expect on the PCAT, networking with current UCSOP Fellows, attending an actual pharmacy class, and more.

Attendees will be provided with valuable information about attending pharmacy school and preparation to become a pharmacist. Registered applicants will receive a free supplemental application fee waiver.

The week ends with ExRx – Experience Pharmacy, an interactive Open House designed for high school seniors and college undergraduates to learn more about being a pharmacist. ExRx takes place Saturday, April 21.

UC Pre Professional School Workshop - Friday, April 27, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

A free workshop for high school juniors and seniors interested in a career in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy or physician assistant will be offered at UC Friday, April 27.

“Preparing for a Career as a Healthcare Professional,” will cover a range of topics to help students prepare for a successful pre-professional college experience – and help them learn more about how to gain acceptance into professional school. The workshop includes lunch, and students are encouraged to bring a parent.

UC offers several pre-professional options for students wishing to go on to professional school, including a PreProfessional program (geared to those interested in medical, veterinary, dental or other medical professional school), Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physician Assistant, and more.

Students who register and attend will also be entered into a drawing for a UC prize package worth over $200.  Workshop size is limited, so early registration is recommended. Registration closes April 24 (earlier if the workshop fills up.)
