UC Students Honored at 2018 Commencement
Charleston, West Virginia – Two outstanding students were honored at the recent University of Charleston commencement ceremonies that took place May 6.
The President’s Award for Outstanding Senior and Outstanding Graduate were established to honor students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, exemplary leadership skills and community involvement. All candidates for the awards were interviewed by the selection committees, which made their recommendations to the UC President Dr. Edwin Welch.
Alize Laura Uyttenhove was named Outstanding Senior, and Carissa Dotson was named Outstanding Graduate.
Uyttenhove, a native of Waterloo, Belgium, graduated summa cum laude with Bachelor of Science degrees in both Sport Business and Business Administration. She also earned an Integrated Communication minor. In addition to this award, she was named Outstanding Senior in Sport Business.
Dotson graduated from the UC School of Pharmacy with a 3.927 cumulative grade point average while holding office in School of Pharmacy organizations, organizing and participating in community outreach activities, and earning the 2018 United States Public Health Service Excellence in Pharmacy Award.
Over 350 graduates participated in this year’s ceremony, held in the Bernard H. Wehrle Sports Arena in the Innovation Center.
