Charleston, WV - The University of Charleston is one of the country's best institutions for undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review. The education services company features the school in the 2011 edition of its annual college guide, "The Best 373 Colleges," released August 3, 2010.
Only about 15% of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges are profiled in the book. It includes detailed profiles of the colleges, plus ranking lists of top 20 schools in 62 categories based on student surveys.
The UC profile begins, "University of Charleston is a perfect place to prepare for life in the real world while benefiting from the friendliness and comfort of a small college environment."
According to UC President Edwin Welch, "UC was one of only six schools in the nation added to the Princeton Review's Best Colleges list in 2009, and we are happy to be included again in this year's edition. This is an affirmation of the university's growing reputation as a distinctive institution in the Southeast."
In a "Survey Says" sidebar, The Princeton Review lists topics that students surveyed for the book were in most agreement about. The UC list includes "diverse student types on campus," "students get along with local community," "low cost of living" and "very little drug use." UC also got high student ratings for its academics, and for having interesting professors who are accessible to their students.
