UC Volleyball’s Dig for the Cure Friday

  • Release Date:Wednesday, October 22, 2008
The University of Charleston’s Volleyball team will host its second annual “Dig For The Cure,” at 7 p.m. Friday in Eddie King Gym in a West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest against Glenville State.

Numerous sponsors will donate money for each “dig” in the volleyball match (usually about 20 per game). The Pioneers will also participate, and have sponsors of their own for the match. Each team will wear uniform tops in different shades of pink.

“This night is about spreading the word on breast cancer and the importance of early detection,” said Coach Bren Stevens. “It is my hope that you will be able to join us at the game on Friday night.  This is a joint venture will Glenville State, as they have been collecting donations as well.”

Proceeds will benefit the West Virginia chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Prizes will be raffled, and pink Dig For The Cure T-shirts will be sold for $10. Admission into the contest is $5 for adults, $3 for children. For more information, contact Coach Stevens at 357-4911.
