UC Takes Down Fighting Scots in WVIAC First Round

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Junior Lindsey Kentner (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Wapakoneta) led the University of Charleston women’s basketball team with a career-high 28 points on 11-of-13 shooting as the Golden Eagles downed No. 14 seed Ohio Valley, Monday night in the first round of the WVIAC tournament.

UC (20-8) controlled the game from tipoff to the final buzzer shot 53 percent (31-of-59) from the field, while holding the Fighting Scots (4-21) to just 35 percent (20-of-57).  The Golden Eagles had eight players score in the contest. Double-digit scorers behind Kentner were senior Kaitlyn Arick (Louisville, Ohio/East Canton) who recorded 13 points and junior Ali Tobias (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) with 11 points.

The University of Charleston women return to action in the second-round of the WVIAC tournament at 3:30pm in the Charleston Civic Center against No. 6 seed Fairmont State.
