I-3 Day Event to Award $20,000 in prize money


Charleston, WV –The public is invited to the University of Charleston’s second annual I-3 Day (Ideas, Invention, Innovation) event, showcasing a world of new products and services created, studied and imagined by UC students, faculty and staff.

About 140 students, faculty and staff are participating in the day-long competition in team and individual projects. The categories include research, original artwork, poster presentations, new products and services, and more.

The winners will be awarded cash prizes - a total of $20,000 in prizes will be awarded. They will be announced at the University’s Eagle Fest 2.0 event that will take place on the riverfront that evening. (A list of winners will be available on the University website).

The public is invited to visit the campus, browse the displays, and see some amazing concepts and work.

In addition to the I-3Day winner ceremony, the Eagle Fest 2.0 celebration will give students, staff and faculty a full schedule of events that will take place on the riverfront lawn and the Geary Student Union from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Activities include paddle boarding, Bubble Ball, video gaming truck, water balloon battle, mechanical bull and more.

High school juniors and seniors are invited to the University’s Shadow a Student Day event that that day as well to learn more about UC and enjoy the activities. To register for the Open House, interested students should call 304-357-4750.
