Diwali – The Festival of Lights
10/19/2017 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM
The University of Charleston’s Global Student Organization is presenting a special event: Diwali – The Festival of Lights.
The event will take place on the campus Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 10:00 am to 7:00 p.m. It will be held in the Appalachian Room on the second floor of the Geary Student Union Building.
Participants can sample Indian food, get a henna tattoo, take part in crafts, and more. An Indian dinner will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
“Diwali is an ancient Hindu festival, signifying the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair,” stated Violetta Petrosyan, Director of International Students at UC . “It is celebrated every year in autumn, and dates back to ancient times. We are lucky to have such a large group of international students, who can share their customs and traditions with us, and create a global community on campus.”
The event is open to the public.
