Homecoming and Family Weekend 2021 takes place October 15-17, 2021

Homecoming weekend is an opportunity for alumni to return to UC to celebrate their time at the University. It is also a weekend for students to show their families around their “home away from home” and what makes them love the university so much.

The University of Charleston will offer homecoming events from Friday, October 15th to Sunday, October 17th. This will be its first Homecoming since 2019 due to Covid-19 last year preventing these celebrations. The week will be filled with unique events for students, alumni, and family to attend.

The week’s calendar is very event-filled. Friday, October 15th, there is a “Golden Reunion Luncheon” that will celebrate past graduated classes of UC. There are also campus tours for students interested in the university. A Pep Rally and Fall Festival, which will include a cookout and concert featuring Landau Eugene Murphy, will provide a fun evening for students to interact with their peers or show their families what UC life looks like.

Saturday, there will be a Tailgate at University of Charleston Stadium followed by the Golden Eagles taking on Concord University at noon. There will also be a women’s volleyball game at 3:00 pm at the Wehrle Athletic Arena.

Sunday, the day will be focused on the soccer teams as the men’s and women’s teams play Notre Dame College at the Welch Athletic Complex. The women’s game starts at 1:00 pm, while the men’s game will be at 4:00 pm.

Christina Carr, UC Director of Alumni Relations, was an asset in planning the events for Homecoming 2021. When Mrs. Carr was asked about the planning that went into this year’s events, she said, “We are thrilled to be welcoming alumni, students, and their families, faculty, and staff to campus for Homecoming and Family Weekend 2021.”

She spoke about the returning classes of UC and said, “We are welcoming six Golden Eagle graduating classes back for their 40th, 45th, and 50th reunions and belated reunions for those who missed out last year due to the pandemic.”

Lastly, Mrs. Carr was asked about her favorite part of planning Homecoming 2021 and she said “The most exciting part about planning Homecoming is how much we can feel the anticipation from the alumni community. They are anxious to visit campus and once again have live events with their Golden Eagle family”
