Bachelor of Science in Sport Business
Students must gain general admission to the University of Charleston. A visit to campus to meet with Admissions personnel and program faculty is strongly encouraged.
The Sport Business major consists of a foundational core of business classes and a diverse selection of sport business classes to prepare the graduate for the sport industry. Practicum and Internships are also included that allow the student to work with a sport business organization.
A Sport Business minor is offered that consists of 18 hours in Sport Business courses. At least 9 hours of the 18 must be upper-division Sport Business courses.
The Sport Business program encourages students to complete a second major or a minor in another academic discipline through the judicious selection of elective courses. For example, a student may decide to obtain a second major in Communications or may elect to obtain an Independent Minor in Business.
Students should consult with program faculty to select a program and coursework that will best support the Sport Business major for their chosen career field.
Students must meet all Liberal Learning Outcomes required for graduation from the University of Charleston.
In order to receive credit toward completion of the Sport Business requirements for graduation, a student must achieve a grade of “C” or higher in each Sport Business course.
Students must also complete practicum credit hours during their time on campus, an internship (usually in their senior year), and a comprehensive project in their senior year.
