Bachelor of Arts
The English major is designed to give students critical thinking, reading, writing and research skills essential to professions such as teaching, law, government,and business. Students acquire the intellectual tools to analyze texts within their historical, cultural, and critical contexts, as well as to communicate effectively in writing to a variety of audiences for various purposes.
Studying English at the University of Charleston has provided me with the ability to think critically, the confidence to challenge the "status quo," and the drive to keep searching for knowledge. With these abilities and influences, the study of English will prepare me for a future that will set me above my peers.
